Lesson Progression

Day 1:
1) The teacher will begin by introducing hot chocolate sentences.
The teacher will use the attachments that explain the hot chocolate sentences. (Made using www.canva.com)
-Each student’s sentence will include 3 parts. They should have features including who, what, and why.
2) Students will use the template attached to make an outline for their sentences. 
*The teacher should model how to use the graphic organizer/template to come up with ideas for their sentences. This lesson can be done whole group or individually. If done whole group, students can fill in organizer as teacher models for them.

Day 2: 
1) Students will write the final sentence using their hot chocolate outlines. 
*Before students write their final sentences, the teacher needs to use the organizer that he/she used the day before to model how to form the sentence from their ideas. 
2) Students will illustrate a picture about their sentence.

Day 3: (Optional)
Teacher and students will make hot chocolate. The teacher will discuss each step in making hot chocolate and what feature of the sentence that it represents.
