Hip Hop Science Calculating Sub atomic Particles
In this lesson, students will review the atomic structure and determine how to find the 3 subatomic particles in an atom using the periodic table using repetitious melodic chants (Raps), concept mapping, Graphic Organizers.

Protons equal da atomic number
Which tells you what element it is.
Electrons equal to protons unless it’s an ion, (so I do the neutron)
Neutron equals to the mass number minus protons (Oh, oh, oh, oh)
Teacher Notes
Teacher will build Concept map/Mind Map on Atomic Structure for review.
Have students Build the concept map using direct teaching.

Assessments
Calculate protons, neutrons, and electrons for element’s atoms.
Have students Perform Rap Song and create a music video using available technology (Chromebook, IPads etc.).
