Geography

Day 1:
You will have a paper cut out as “continents” in your room. It is easy to use bulletin board paper to get the basic shapes.
To begin the lesson, you have students break into groups. Their mission is to describe where a certain continent is in the room. They cannot use items in the room to describe the location of the continent. Ex.) near the bookshelf.
 
The goal is for students to use compass rose coordinates. Such as in the northern part of the room. If students do not get this on their own, then help lead discussions that will guide them to this process.
 
Day 2-3
Students will begin to research the continent they were given the previous day.
They should include the groups of people that live in the continent, different counties, and other fun facts. This will help students to identify with countries when they are discussed during later history units.
 
Day 4:
Students will continue their research if necessary. Once they are readery, students will present their findings to the class. 
 
 

Students can choose how they want to present their information to the class. For example, they might decide to create a book, presentation, poster, etc.

Students will present the information they learned during their research to the class.
