Lesson Progression

1. Students will begin on the carpet. Teacher will play flower video for the students to begin the lesson.

2. After the video, the teacher will question the students to get them thinking about how a flower grows. (What did you see happen? What changed? How did it change? Etc.)

3. Teacher will go over the life cycle of a flowering plant. Teacher should present an anchor chart, or some type of model for the students to see the different stages.

4. After talking about the life cycle of a flowering plant, the students will go back to their tables to work on a sequencing worksheet of a flowering plant. After teacher has seen that they have sequenced the flowering plant correctly, and each student has had the opportunity to finish, the teacher will send the students back to the carpet.

5. Teacher will hold a group discussion on what they have learned about flowering plants. Have a few students share what they now know about flowering plants.

Assessments

Students will be assessed through the questioning that takes place during the beginning of the lesson. They will also be assessed through the sequencing worksheet that is done at the end of the lesson. If students are able to sequence the life cycle of a flowering plant correctly, then I know they understand this topic. If the students are not able to sequence the life cycle of a flowering plant correctly, then I know they need more practice on this topic.
