John Slaughter discusses the challenge of putting people back in the mindset of the past, in order to fully understand it. Slaughter points out an incongruencewith trying to understand history, and how things were back then, by approaching them with a modern mindset.  Walter Edgar and John Slaughter discuss things which happened during the American Revolution which would be considered “brutal,” or worthy of “war-crime” status by today’s standards.
