Yonges Island And St. Paul's Parish, Part 2 - Personal Accounts Of War | Palmetto Places - Episode 2

Kaltura

The area known as Yonges Island is no stranger to war. While the men went off to combat, the women were left to manage on their own. Two Wilkinson women, Elize Yonge Wilkinson, and Amarinithia Wilkinson wrote a series of letters, which were personal accounts of enduring the presence of the enemy. Joanna Angle reads a few of these letters: Elize’s experience with British forces during the American Revolution, and Amarinithia’s letter of anguish, hoping for the Civil War to come to an end.
