Walterboro, Part 4 - Bonnie Doone | Palmetto Places

The property called Bonnie Doone was once a major rice plantation. General William T. Sherman’s troops burned the original house during The Civil War, and took the house’s owner prisoner. The house site remained a ruin for 65 years, until a New Yorker bought Bonnie Doone, and built the 32-room Georgian style mansion which still stands today.
