Summerville, Part 3 - Downtown Revitalization And Local Artists | Palmetto Places - Episode 3

Kaltura

The town of Summerville prides itself on its preservation of historic homes and building, many of which date back to the early to mid-1800’s.  On the village green, evidence is seen of a strong Main Street revitalization project, with specialty shops, cozy restaurants, and friendly service.

Of special interest in Summerville is the work of local artists. Diane Wilson, a local quilter and author, joins to talk about her inspirations for quilting, and how quilts are made. Another local artist, Samuel Ravanel Gaillard, is a master of the silk screen. Ravanel Gaillard’s best known works is his series of paintings called “Lowcountry Scenes.” These paintings reflect his memories of his childhood, and growing up in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
