St. Helena Island, Part 2 - Gullah Culture | Palmetto Places

"Sea Island Gullah", or just "Gullah" is a mixture of African-American words mixed with English words in a consistent pattern.  The "Red Piano Too" Art Gallery is host to works of art which preserve and celebrate the Gullah culture. The gallery includes works of art from local South Carolina artist, Jonathan Green, and papier-mache` sculptures by Beaufort artist, Rafael "Ungla". The video also features other examples of Gullah heritage, including a food recipe, and hand-making a net, since the primary diet for people in this area came from the sea.
