Joanna Angle chronicles the early history of Newberry County, a place featuring architectural diversity, a revitalized downtown area, and earned its place in “The Best 100 Small Towns in America” list.

Several architectural examples from Newberry are showcased: Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, the Central United Methodist Church, the Newberry Hotel, the Classical Revival Courthouse, the Old Courthouse, Newberry College, and the Newberry Opera House.

The Newberry Opera House is the focal point of Newberry’s historic building preservation. Dr. Jim Wiseman, chairman of the Newberry Opera House, joins to discuss restoration efforts, along with the opera house’s history, and variety of entertainment.
