Jennet Alterman on the Importance of Female Voting | Inside Palmetto Voices

In a Palmetto Voices exclusive for Ready to Vote, Jennet Alterman, women's rights activist and former Executive Director of the Charleston Center for Women, explains why it is so important for women to register to vote and participate in elections because of the efforts of suffragettes like Alice Paul.

Paul was the main leader and strategist of the 1910s campaign for the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gave women the right to vote. She dedicated her life at all costs to securing equal rights for all women, at times facing brutality and even imprisonment.
