The striped bass hatcheries of the South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department produces as many as one hundred and twenty million fish. The hatcheries are among the world’s leaders in striped bass production, placing fish in inlet reservoirs in some thirty states, and as far away as South Africa, New Zealand, and Russia. Many “trophy fish” get their start at the Jack Bayless Hatchery, in St. Stephen, South Carolina.
