Edgefield, Part 1 - Introduction, And Oakley Park | Palmetto Places

The name “Edgefield” derives from its location at the edge of Indian battlefields.  Edgefield’s reputation for being a political hot bed was enhanced by events that occurred in the home called Oakley Park. Joanna Angle discusses the history behind this historic home, along with one of Edgefield’s most prominent figures: Eugenia Dorothea Olga Neva Lucy Holcombe Douschka Francesca Pickens, also known as “South Carolina’s Joan of Arc.”
