Disney’s Beauty and the Beast began as an animated film. Expanding the movie into a musical stage production was not easy, but talented theater professionals created a spectacular show of award-winning songs, stunning costumes and sets, and dazzling special effects. In 1994,Disney’s Beauty and the Beast opened on Broadway (the famous street of theaters in New York City) to rave reviews. Like many successful Broadway shows, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has a separate touring production that travels and performs across the country in theaters like The Peace Center for the Performing Arts in Greenville, S.C. The U.S. National Tour has 32 cast members, 15 orchestra musicians and 28 people who work behind-the-scenes.
