Darlington, Part 4 - St. John's School And Angus Gainey | Palmetto Places

Originally called Darlington Academy, a three room school, tradition has it that one of its first teachers was an ardent mason, and urged that the school be renamed in honor of the apostle, St. John, who supposedly belonged to the Masonic Order. Joanna Angle discusses the rich history of this educational institute. Professor Angus Gainey, of the Darlington Academy, organized the first high school orchestra in South Carolina.
