The ideal location for astronomers are places with dry climates, high above sea level, and miles away from city lights. Bob Dukes and Saul Adelman travel to see this new telescope at the Whipple Observatory, located on Mount Hopkins, just outside of Tucson, Arizona. This new telescope was made available to both The Citadel and the College of Charleston by a grant from the National Science Foundation. This new telescope system, the Automatic Photo-Electric Telescope, or APT, can record three times as much data a year, compared to what they would formerly expect. The new system would also enable professors Adelman and Dukes to have access to data collected, and see what the telescope sees, from across the continent.
