Brenda Johnson, a resident of Houston, Texas, is considered a hero in her own right, by her local community. Like other inner city neighborhoods in Houston, the Fifth Ward has had its problems with crime, drugs, and neglect. She left the neighborhood when she was eleven years old, and when she grew up, returned to manage Columbia Manor Apartments, where she spent her childhood. Brenda became a manager with a heart, and a deep sense of commitment to improving the lives of those living around her. Along with managing the complex, she visits local mothers, encourages community organizers, ensures security for the community, and provides educational opportunities for young children.
