Jim Welch showcases Biltmore Estate, located in Asheville, North Carolina. The Biltmore House was built by George Washington Vanderbilt II, between 1889 and 1895. It is both the largest privately owned home in the U.S., and is a national historic landmark. The name “Biltmore” derives from Bildt, the region of Holland where the Vanderbilts originated, and moor, which is English for “rolling uphill country.”
Jim talks about the famous home, along with the architecture, gardens, conservation and restoration efforts, and the winery.
