Abbeville, Part 2 - Grand Opera House | Palmetto Places (1994)

October 1, 1908, signified the christening of Abbeville's Grand Opera House. Many stage artists and musicians performed there, creating a popular destination for travelers passing through South Carolina. Unfortunately, with the increasing popularity of motion pictures and "talkies," the theater experienced a decline, and eventually shut down. The opera house has since been restored as a result of Abbeville's revitalization project, and is once again host to live performances, bringing in large audiences every year.
