The live debates and discussions are over, but you can still view both discussions and hear what students had to say following the gubernatorial debates Monday and Tuesday in this special, digital-only, Facebook event. Visit the South Carolina ETV Facebook page to watch now!
South Carolina ETV, SC Public Radio and The Post and Courier's second round of gubernatorial debates will take place Monday, June 4 (Democratic) and Tuesday, June 5 (Republican) at the University of South Carolina.
The debates, held in conjunction with the state Democratic and Republican parties, will include all candidates running for the office. Both debates start at 7 p.m.
SCETV's Facebook page will be live after the debates starting at 8 p.m. for a Ready to Vote special. Join in the discussion as students talk about the issues that are important to them. A key part of the discussion will be creating a dialogue around civility in our political process and talking about what needs to happen to heal the divide in our country.
What is Ready to Vote? Civic engagement of youth is a classic win-win proposition. Young people benefit from involvement in the civic life of their communities, and their communities become more democratic when youth have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. Ready To Vote is designed to facilitate the discussion of one of the most important activities as a citizen – voting. Learn more about Ready To Vote online. The site provides facts about the principles of the Constitution, the branches of U.S. Government and explores how the electoral process works.
