All together from 1890 until around 1963, there were four Indian Schools located on 17A from the town of Summerville to St. Johns. For almost 100 years the Indian children only received an elementary school level education which is a major reason why there are educational, financial, and health disparity issues among the Native Americans of South Carolina.
