Cane Syrup and Corn Milling
Mr. John Catoe and his brother grew up in a farming family very near their present-day property in Middendorf. His milling skills are largely self-taught through research and practice but represent a continuation of his family's heritage. He is a corn syrup maker and corn miller at the Blizzard Branch Farm. He uses both cane mills and mules for harvesting his syrup. He has taught the practice to his son, Andy Catoe, and his daughter Stephanie. They assist their father and learned through observing him at work. Andy is an agriculturalists working at the family manure business.
