Breaking The Stalemate | Walter Edgar's Journal - Episode 6

Kaltura

Dr. Morgan first talks about the efficiency of the Confederate postal system, and how soldiers were able to share their senses of humor in letters written back home.  Dr. Morgan then analyzes how officers on both sides tried to figure out ways to break the stalemate outside of Richmond. One way was a proposal from one of General Lee’s artillery commanders, which was to attempt gas warfare, but this proposal was never approved.
